Schneider Electric partners with Enactus to put experienced professionals alongside students building their own careers and ventures. There’s no fixed subject I’m there to teach, rather, my role is much simpler than that: being a steady, honest presence for people a few steps behind, someone who’s been through the same uncertainty of building a career and can help them reason through their own.
My involvement goes beyond one-on-one mentoring: When called upon, I sit on the jury for their competition projects, join their forums, and take part as a panelist on the industry’s harder questions.
I’m there because I believe confidence, not skill, is the real gap for most young people stepping into the job market. The goal is that by the time these students leave the programme, they can walk into a job market, or launch their own venture, without second-guessing whether they belong there.
